Tuberculosis

Post a new topicby Guest on Wed Feb 27, 2002 5:17 am

Recently my servant had contracted first stage of TB and as a precautionary measure, I have decided to go for a TB skin test (PPD)

The results shows that I am positive and my chest x-ray shows that I am negative.
I had BCG taken when I was 7 years of age.

As the doctor was not really sure, I am required to take an x-ray again in a month time.

Am I free from being infected by TB.

What will be the symptoms?

Have you ever had a PPD before? Given the exposure to someone with TB, you should receive treatment. The exposure puts you at significant risk of developing TB at some point. The negative chest xray means you don't have it now. However, there are medications that are given in these circumstances to help prevent you from developing this. You should contact the state department of medicine and talk with their TB specialists.
