Can anything else cause a positive TB TINE?

Post a new topicby Guest on Thu Jul 18, 2002 3:32 am

When I was about 3 I was a positive reactor. There was no evidence of the disease, yet they treated me for it anyways. I am just curious, can TB tests show up positive in other types of conditions. Also, I still have positive reactor tests. I found this out by accident when I didn't know my history about 7 years ago. I also got sick after having that TB tine for about two weeks. I have never had any evidence on chest x-rays, and this was even so when I was a child testing positive for TB. Is it possible for TB to lie elsewhere in the body or to cause problems later on in life too? Thanks so much for your time.

It is rare to have a something else cause a positive TB test. Most patients will always test positive after the initial one and therefore no futher TB skin tests should be done on you. If you were treated it is very unlikely that you have TB in your body. It is much more likely that your positive test is just from having tested positive in the past. Consulting your doctor on this would be important as he or she can better tell you specific details about your case.
