atypical turberculosis

Post a new topicby Guest on Tue Apr 23, 2002 9:01 pm

A friend's 23 month old daughter has been diognosed with "atypical turberculosis". What is that? Is it contagious? Is it cureable? What is the treatment? Thank you for your time.

I assume you mean atypical mycobacteria. This is a name of certain types of bacteria, TB is only one of them. The ones that are not TB are generally not contagious to people with normal immune function. There are medications to treat the atypical mycobacteria and often effect a cure.
