sore throat/lower/one side?

Post a new topicby christinedo on Fri Nov 02, 2007 10:22 am

I am puzzled. I have had a sore throat for almost a week. Now if it was a normal sore throat, I would not be worried, however, this is real low in my throat. In fact, if you put your finger on the area between where your collar bone meets, it's right there. And, the other odd thing is, it's on the left side only? It is very painful to swallow. It hurts to put your finger on it even. I have been very tired since this too. Yesterday I just layed in bed. I am a strong person, and a normal sore throat wouldn't get me down. I am not a smoker or drinker. I have not been told of any allergies although I think I have a few. I have had no fever with this. Being on one side only, and so low in my throat, is this still considered normal and I should not worry? I HATE going to doctors, especially for a sore throat, but I have never experienced anything like this? Thank you.

to ad to this post of mine, this is now a raw scratchy sore throat. If feels as if someone was putting a finger in the side of your throat and pushing.

You do need to visit a doctor. This unilateral presentation is unusual. It sounds infectious, as though you have a lymph node very much locally involved. But it does need to be differentiated medically. You don't want anything to get too advanced. There are many structures in the region you describe so it is hard to be very specific.
