Diana,

I would think your level of concern should be relative to your risk factors and related symptoms for lung cancer. History of smoking and incidence of cancers in the family and so on. Are you now, or have you, coughed up any blood? When was your last chest Xray and did it show the nodule then?

I suggest your compile the information noted above and call a major cancer treatment center or a pulmonary physician office and ask to discuss your case with a nurse practitioner. Or, you could just get another medical opinion.

Understand that before smoking that lung cancer was actually quite rare. But we also now better understand the consequences of second hand smoke so it can happen in none smokers too. Try to reman calm and get some more input. Even if it is the worst news you have caught the process very early and will likely be just fine.

Yes I smoke and yes I have had other chest x rays and I would think that they would have seen this nodual then. I am worried because I have a father that died of lung cancer and a mother who died of ovarin cancer so yea I am concerned that this may be cancer and to wait for four months seems to be taking a risk that is not worth it. medical help in this state Indiana the doctors think more for money then of their patients health so yea it is scary as hell. I had a xray a year ago and they never compared this cat scan with that xray so like I said it all comes down to the money not your life.
