Nodule

Post a new topicby Guest on Wed May 14, 2003 1:24 am

For the past year I have been having difficulty with shoulder and arm pain that radiates down the right side of my rib cage. Laying flat on my back really hurts as well as inspiratory breathing.

I work in a ER and just had made the assumption that all of this was from lifing pts etc. I finally gave up and went to the Dr. when my arm became numb and tingling.

She performed a chest and shoulder x-ray. The chest x-ray showed "something" as she put it. Making an assumption that I had had valley fever at one time I had titers drawn. Those came back negative. I asked her what we needed to do next. She replied"Nothing". It's just probably scar tissue.

The next day I received a call from the radiologist who stated that I did have a SPN. He convinced my PCP that I need a chest ct. I guess my question is basically what is and what causes a SPN?

And yes I have been a moderate smoker for about 20 years. I also have hypothyrodism.

Thank you...
