Newly diagnosed 5 mm pulmonary nodule

Post a new topicby Guest on Wed Jan 08, 2003 6:20 pm

I am a 46 year old attorney who recently had a chest xray about six months ago for some minor chest pain associated with a severe cough. A followup CT scan showed a 5 mm pulmonary nodule. I had an CT scan 6 months later and the nodule remained unchanged. The radiologist has now asked that it be rechecked in a 3 month internal. Should I be concerned?

I am not a smoker and never have been. My only history has been severe sore throats due to strep infections, and a severe case of mononucleosis when I was 17 years old requiring hospitalization for two weeks.

Do you recommend that I see a pulmonogist?

I ended up at emergency for something else but discovered a 4-5 mm pulmonary nodule through a ct scan. The emergency doctor recommended I follow up with a pulmonary specialist which I am seeing the end of the month. I am 52 years old and have never smoked in my life & always tried to eat healthy and exercised.
