11mm Pulmonary Nodule

Post a new topicby swena79 on Sat Sep 26, 2009 1:25 pm

Hi,
I went to the ER because I was having trouble breathing. I am 5 weeks pregnant, so it made me a little nervous. They wanted to rule out a blood clot in my lung, so they did a cat scan. they showed a 11mm pulmonary nodule in my right lower lobe. I am 30 years old, I did smoke for about 2 years 10-12 years ago. what are my chances of this being cancer? I am super concerned. I have 2 small children and 1 on the way. I have an appointment with a primary care doctor, just for a follow up from the ER visit. Please help! What could this be!? And with me being pregnant, will they even do amy more testing? I am worried.

Lungs infect and scar in a way that can result in the appearance of a nodular densities. This is probably one of those, they usually are. In the absence of any other symptoms they will repeat the cat scan in 6 months time and see if it has changed. In your case they will likely wait until after you have delivered your baby.
