Solitary Pulmonary Nodule

i am so scared i had a ct scan done 1 yr ago that said i had a 2mm nodule on my right lower lung lobe my dr said we will just recheck it in 6 mths just had a new one done and it is unchanged but there is also one on my lung they said this one was a solitary nodule2 mm it was there last time but not noted all the research i have done saya that solitary nodules are the first stages of lung cancer i do smoke i have for 19 yrs about a half a pack a day. i am going to a specialist the end of oct. i dont understand why he wants a xray and a sputuim test done please help. also we do have a bird
