stage III sarcoidosis with fibrosis is mortality rate diagnosis, I have never really gotten a straight answer, I dont expect an exact answer, I would just like some statistics. I had an open lung biopsy 2 years ago, y removed part of my right upper lobe, surgeon stated he took he had to. I have worst flair up 2-3 times per year I notice in last year I feel as though Im becoming more exhausted, I feel my health declining. I have a family, I just would like to be prepd
Re: stage III sarcoidosis with fibrosisThe overal mortality rate from sarcoidosis is less than 5%. Remission in stage III disease is about 10 to 20%, that is no residual lung problems. After 5 years 25% of patients with stage III are asymptomatic. Mortality rates with stage III disease is 18%. These numbers are based on population studies of patients with sarcoidosis. It is important to keep in mind that there are many causes of fatigue, did you gain weight on steroids and do you have sleep apnea or do you have other causes of fatigue. It would be helpful for you to review your pulmonary function tests with your physician and see if they have declined or if you xray appearance has changed or remained stable. If your lung function is declining then revaluation of your treatment would be important.
