Exercise levels with Pulmonary Sarcoidosis Stage 2

Post a new topicby Lungs on Tue Feb 17, 2009 7:13 pm

i have been diagnosed with Sarcoidosis [ pulmonary ] Stage 2 for about 10 mons . I use Pulmicort and Bricanyl turboinhalers . I have started walking again [ nor. walked 5 mi. at least 5 times per week - until becoming symptomatic last Spring ]. I do have episodes of chest tightness and my lungs rarely feel " normal " any more .I don't walk if " tight " . However I worry I am compromising the blood supply to my lungs by starting my walking regimen again . I am 63 and was " in good health/fitness until this dx hit me . have gained weight and lost muscle tone so want to gain " lost ground " back .I Any feedback on effects of exercise , pos or neg. would be appreciated . thanks

Hello, First off I a no expert in Sarcoid. What you might want to do is get the advice of your MD and/or a physical therapist regarding getting back into any exercise. I suspect that there's a preferred way to do so. I do know that you are not compromising the blood flow to your lungs with exercise.
