My husband is 38 years old and had been diagnosed in july of 2008 with sarcoidosis Since then he has had a couple of surgeries one of which his appendice had to be removed. He is always complaining of pains in his joints and muscles and he also has alot of pain on the lower left side of his breast bone, i think that might be his spleen. He can’t do much anymore. All he does is stay in bed all day long, everyday. H...Read the full article

I do not have this disease, but do have a chronic disease that involves treatment with steroids, has lots of pain and fatigue as well. i have found that accupuncture helps with the pain. It is difficult to not give in to these diseases, but you have to remain emotionally strong. I also take an anti-depressant--it helps!! Hang in there. I have a friend who has this disease and was quite sick for several years and then it went into remission--she was in her 50's when diagnosed.

I was diagnosed with Sarcoidosis in December last year aged 59. I started feeling unwell in May. I am on steroids at the moment and now on a reducing dose. Are you being seen by a Consultant who specialises in Sarcoidosis? I am under a Dr Hew Beynon who is amazing. If you Google his name you can read about him. If the condition gets really bad you can be treated with Chemo drugs which are more powerful than the steroids. I am learning to live with the condition although I have been made redundant and cannot really go back to work as my eyes are not good enough. The sarcoidosis caused bi-lateral facial palsey and even though the left side is almost back to normal the right hand side is still numb (although the palsey has gone apart from the eye area is still droopy).

Your husband must hang on in there. This condition can make you depressed. I just try to carry on as before but I must admit I cannot do as much as before but I have adjusted and just do one task at a time where I used to do many.

Good Luck. Don't let it take over you life.
