Three bouts of Pneumonia in 14 monthsI quit smoking in November of 2006. Yeh! Finally! My problem is that I had 3 bouts of Pneumonia in 14 months from February of 2007 to April of 2008. The last time I had Pneumonia the doctor nearly put me in the hospital. Since then I had a bad cold in October 2008 and the doctor put me on Zyrtec to help my allergies. I have had year-round allergies since I was a child. The Zyrtec does help some, but I still have a stuffy nose in the morning and some during the day. For about a year I have been having problems breathing when I have to do a lot of walking. I can't just not walk because we have no car. We can catch the bus, but it doesn't take you right to the door of every place we go. I am beginning to think I might have to have my breathing checked again which was done in July 2008 and they found nothing. Please advice. The doctor that had my breathing checked in 2008 thought I might have problems because of my bouts with Pneumonia
Re: Three bouts of Pneumonia in 14 monthsHello again. I just posted on your inquiry about your husband.
If your lungs are limiting you ability to walk then they need to be formally checked out with complete pulmonary function testing. Recurrent lung infections could be totally unrelated or they might be interrelated. A persistent sinus infection could start and restart pneumonia's. A resistant strain of bacteria might keep the same infection in place with periodic flare ups. But, in general, it sounds as though you needs a thorough pulmonary work up.
