pleural effusion following kidney stone removal surgery

My 23 yr. old daughter just had a 4 hr. surgery to remove a large stone in her kidney. On day one after surgery, she developed shortness of breath. CT was performed and discovered pleural effusion. Breathing treatments were done in hospital. We were discharged yesterday. Still having shortness of breath. Can not lay flat in bed. Worse in A.M. Should we be concerned, or will this situation correct itself in time?
