Question about blood work

Post a new topicby smcminn37 on Thu Jul 23, 2009 1:18 am

My mom had her needle biopsy this morning without complications, so waiting on the results for that. My question is about blood work, her blood counts have all come back basically normal but with a few irregularities/ Lymph was 3.6 and mono 1.1, apparently not too high but elevated. Does a normal blood count imply that cancer is less likely, or does it matter at all? Thanks for any information. I know the obvious answer is to talk with her doctor, we will meet tomorrow or friday, until then I just want any information I can get.

Blood tests like most medical tests are meant to only part of the medical evaluation. In other words without the whole picture there is nothing that can be said about a few moderately out of range blood values. Let us know how the MD visit goes.
