Lung cancer

Post a new topicby damos on Fri Mar 07, 2008 8:36 pm

Hi everone!
My dad was diagnosed with lung cancer last October. He is 71 years old. He was not able for surgery and was given chemo. at one point he was admitted to the hospital for shortness of breath. for whatever reason the doctor did a catscan and he was immediately taken off chemo and given radiation. When he thought that was done they added two more weeks. He is now in need of oxygen and a walker. Although when we talk he never sounds depressed and is always laughing i know he hurts. It hurts me as well for the fact that i am his oldest son and should be there to help him with the transportation and doctor visits. My mother is doing all she can but bless her heart her sister is suffering with cancer and is down to to 112 pounds. But i live in Naples Florida and he lives in Bastrop Texas. I have plans to go for spring break when the kids are out of school, but i wish i could afford to just stay with him and be there for him. I call ever night and most times the sleeping pills have him out, so if i am lucky i talk to him 2-3 times a week. Sorry if i seemed to drag this on but i thought if i just wrote this down i would feel better. I also hope i did this right and didnt post in the wrong place, I have never posted anything before. Good luck to you all and your loved ones!

I am so sorry to hear of your family's problem! What a difficult time for you. My thoughts are with you from California. Keep calling your dad; spring break will be here before you know it and you can visit! Thinking of you and your family and keeping you in my thoughts. ...

I AM SORRY TO HEAR OF THIS NEWS YOUR DAD AND FAMILY IS DEALING WITH. I TOO WAS DIAGNOSED IN OCTOBER WITH LUNG CANCER CONTINUE CALLING YOUR DAD LETTING HIM KNOW HOW YOU LOVE HIM AND REMEMBER THE POWER OF PRAYER IS VERY STRONG. I HAVE MANY PEOPLE PRAYING FOR ME, PEOPLE I DON'T EVEN KNOW. I HAVE COMPLETED MY CHEMO AND MY CT AND PETSCANS HAVE BEEN VERY POSITIVE, BUT OF COURSE TIME IS SO VERY PRECIOUS NOW, MORE THAN I EVER REALIZED. THE THINGS WE ALL TAKE FOR GRANTED ARE NOW SO IMPORTANT. I LOVE TO HEAR FROM FRIENDS AND FAMILY ALL THE TIME, AS THIS IS A VERY SCARY AND FRIGHTNING TIME FOR BOTH MYSELF AND THOSE WHO CARE FOR ME. TRY AND VISIT YOUR DAD WHEN YOU GET YOUR SPRING BREAK. I AM SURE YOUR MOM WOULD APPRECIATE THE VISIT AS WELL. YOU ARE IN MY PRAYERS. GOOD LUCK AND GOD BLESS.
