High CEA...no reason apparent

Post a new topicby kimed57 on Fri Dec 07, 2007 9:57 am

I was diagnosed with Stage IV NSCLC in 8/2005. Have been doing pretty well with chemo Had been off for a year and then back on 12/06 - still on Nevilbene weekly at present. My CEA has risen to 1400 at last checkup with no apparent reason according to my oncologist He feels that on tumor on my left lung is causing this rise in CEA. It rose 500 points in one week! My CT scans show improvement or stability so we don't seem to know what is causing this high number but I keep being told not to worry. I feel pretty good, except for the usual fatigue and I don't look ill so I don't know what to think. Any ideas? I am a 50 year old woman who is otherwise quite healty, thank God. I'd appreciate any thoughts anyone might have.
Thanks.
