Lung Cancer

Hi everyone,
my husband is 48 and has emphysema, he has been getting more short of breath, tired, pains in lungs but no weight loss we thought it was the emphysema getting worse...
he went to the doctors and had xrays done it showed a mass on his right lung and a smaller lump/nodual 10mm in size, on the xray you can clearly see the mass its fairly big,
i know no one here can tell me if its cancer or not but i'd like to know what you all think, could it be cancer? he did smoke for years...
i don't really understand the words on the xray report i will put them here and maybe someone here might know what it means, My husband can't have a scan done until the end of the week they are all booked out and he wont get to see his doctor until after the weekend, the waiting is really hard i just want to find out all i can...
the xray report said he has a moderate size well-circumscribed round opacity with lobulated outline in the right middle lobe it says its non-calcified. it also says there is also a 10mm nodular opacity in the right mid zone....
does anyone know what all this means or if it sounds like cancer or somthing else bad, its already been 5 days since the xray and i can't think of anything else it will be another 5 days until the scan and a couple of days after that before he can get the results... i just wish it didn't take so long
i'm hoping someone can tell me something, good or bad
