Right in the Nick of TimeI will never forget it, on Memorial Day 2006 I woke up with this sinking and uncomfortable feeling. I was unable to process a good breath. At first I thought it was a heart attack and 911 ambulance emergency room the entire gamut. We ruled that out, but thank God I had a young doctor who refused not to know what was causing this discomfort. Becuase I only experienced the discomfort when I tried to breathe, she ordered a CT Scan of my lungs. When they ruled out the heart attack I was ready ...Read the full article
Re: Right in the Nick of TimeI just read your story, and had to comment.
I thought that I was the only person who a husband who wanted to stay married because of the life insurance that he was the beneficiary of. I had seperated from my husband a few months prior to the diagnosis, and had filed for divorce only one month prior. (Diagnosis January 2007). My lung cancer was found because I had terrible headaches - which turned out to be caused by 2 brain tumors. Biopsy showed NSCLC - adenocarcinoma - stage 4. I was given 6 months, at best. While I was in the hospital, having a craniotomy, I found out that my (ex)husband told my then 17 yr old daughter, that if I died during surgery, that he was going to get everything! Well, let me tell you, when I found out, I called my lawyer. When I explained what was going on, I was allowed to divorce him within the month, (my state requires a 90-day waiting period), and remove his name as a beneficiary from the insurance. I just can't understand how some people can be so cold and creul. I really don't think my (our) daughter will ever forget his comments or forgive him. And, I'm glad you came through fine and with style. I too am doing very well, and 12 months after brain surgery, and six months after chemo/radiation, am living a normal (single) life with no evidence of disease. p.s. My saga would probably make a good Lifetime feature as well :)
Re: Right in the Nick of TimeI just have to say what two (the person who commented as well) very extrodinary women you both are. I was just doing research on this subject as my uncle, my fav beloved unlce joe was just diagnosed and I wanted to know more. I guess I needed and was looking for hope. And i have found that hope in you two and your corageous battles that you both have won. He has stage 3-not sure what part, but he is not doing very well. He cant talk with out coughing and doesnt walk around much and is doing Chemo/Rad tx 5days a week. Alternate weeks he does just chemo and this is to go on for 6-8 weeks I think. Anyways, I just have to say, BRAVO! Not only have you kicked the killer cancer you have dumped the losers that may have bought you down!! i am currently going through a lifetime movie issues as well. So I definetely understand that kind of drama. They are just pathetic useless human beings. And in the end will be judged by god. All we can do is hang on and have faith, and live life to its fullest. My blessings to you both. And thank you for your inspiring stories. You give this single struggling working warry mother of two...HOPE.
Thanks again God Bless Take care.
