Lung Cancer

We found out 3 days ago that my husband has lung cancer He is 66 y.o., smoked for over 40 years, and very independent. He is scheduled for a mediastinscopy-bronchoscopy next week. I just don’t know what to expect. He is so very thin (lost over 20 lbs. in the past 3 mo.), and so tired all the time. His tests have revealed an 8 cm mass. I don’t want to get him even more alarmed, but want to know what the prognosis is for this situation. Thank you in advance for any input.
