There are many reasons a nonsmoker can get hemoptysis. The most common cause is bronchitis. However that is usually just blood-tinged sputum. Other causes include infection such as TB, a blood clot to the lung circulation, cancer, congestive heart failure, pulmonary-renal syndromes such as Goodpasture's disease. There are many others but that is to name a few. If you have hemoptysis you should contact your physician immediately.
