Diaphragmatic Endometriosis

Post a new topicby Guest on Sat Mar 23, 2002 2:04 pm

Understanding that each case is different... I am a female. My right lung has collapsed twice in the last 8 months. A CT Scan ordered by my pulmonologist shows a healthy lung. I am currently on constant Ortho-Cyclen to prevent periods and supposedly pain, but still have constant right shoulder and chest pain--sometimes severe.

I will have a laparoscopy next month to examine a possible endometrioma on my left ovary. My ob/gyn said she will examine my diaphragm at that time.

If diagnosed with diaphragmatic endometriosis would you recommend first trying hormonal treatment and, if unsuccessful, surgery? How successful is Lupron (and similar meds) with permanent pain relinquishment?

I have been dealing with this for 8 months and am trying not to get discouraged with the constant pain.

I have researched this disease and, of course, find varying treatment opinions.

Thank you for your response.

I have sent this to the ob/gyn channel as they are better able to answer the treatment questions. Endometriosis of the diaphragm can cause the pains you describe but doesn't account for the collapsed lung. Has your pulmonologist consider something called LAM? It is a condition in women and can lead to collapsed lungs.
