coughing up blood

Post a new topicby millymar on Sat Oct 06, 2007 11:36 pm

Hi, I’m experiencing coughing of blood for several years already, and the frequency of the episodes is scary. For close to 10 years I’ve been treated by several specialists. After an extensive list of studies, a couple of years ago, the pulmonolgist determined that I have shorten of breathing, the cardiologist found I have a mitral valve prolapsed, the gastroenterologist found I have diverticulosis which, he said cannot be related to hemaptosis.

I recently, started to experience chest pain; I recently learned I have a leaking valve. My cardiologist said that the blood I’m coughing is not from the heart. He sent me to a hematologist. I am waiting for the results of the test ordered by the hematologist. I’m very scared because every time I get stressed or exhausted, I start coughing blood. I need your thoughts. Thank you very much.

I agree the blood is not coming from your heart, this usually represents a lung problem
