17 month old being tested for CF.Hi....my 17 month (almost 18 months) old little girl Libbi is being tested for CF. She has had the following problems.
Chronic Cough Low weight gain yet she is very short also. She currently has a resistant form of Strep Pneumo and is on one of the only anitbiotics orally that it will respond to. Omnicef. She has had multiple respiratory infections (not pneumonie) but croup, RSV (hospitalized), Sinus Infections, etc. She has has infections all her life since about age 6 months. She recently underwent a sinus irrigation, adenoidectomy and tube removal and reinsertion. My question is: Her older brother has bronchiectasis (age 6) and was tested for CF. I know it is possible for one to have it and one not to have but what are the chances that she does have this disease?
Re: 17 month old being tested for CF.I assume your son has cf by your description. Given the problems your daughter has thus far experienced, I am surprised she wasn't tested sooner(especially with a brother with cf). In any case, her symptoms, infections, etc do make me think she is quite likely to have cf. Unfortunately more than one child in a family can be affected.

Re: Re: 17 month old being tested for CF.Hi: My son doesn't have CF. He just has bronchiectasis. He was tested and was negative. But you answered my questions on Libbi. They have talked about testing her many times but just now decided that they really needed to. Now I am just on a waiting block for the test and for the results.
