Does any one know anything about prednisone and muscle atrophy?

It was last year I found out about predisone and it side effects.The nurse came in and listed my problems off the hospital records.Then she got to scoliosis I said I don't have that and I asked my doctor he said it one of the side efffects of predisone,thats why I can.t stand for long periods or walk predison is one of the highlights of my treatment with the best results but the side effects are going to kill me.I find when my breathing goes real bad it because I'm expelling no flem and the increased predisone plus a anti=biotic do that.I wish they could find asubstitute for predisone.

I am finding the same. when I have an infection, he puts me up to 40mgs of pred, which tapers down to 10`mg.I've done this over time and have very little muscle strength left
