COPD

I wake up every day with bad body pain more in joints. I have this really bad cough that is now lasting all day before it was only at night, My head hurts all the time .I use to have bad and good days But now it seems like it's all bad day's. any more I guess I am just tired of feeling sick all the time.I can remember when I use to wake up in the morning and felt good , felt alive had joy.I guess if I could afford a good doctor I have to go to a low income clinic where they herd you like cattle try to get read of you as fast as they can. I have been telling the doctor there at that clinic about my cough and she told me to take over the counter med for it I told her that I have tried every thing you can buy over the counter but it's not working the she told me well we do not give drugs I was so upset I told her I no a drug attic I am not asking for drugs to get high .I do not know what to do.

I am sorry to hear about your situation. Have they done any xrays or any studies trying to get to the bottom of your current ailments and the cough? I assume you have COPD since you posted in this forum. Do you smoke? The doctor thought you were looking to get some cough medicine with a narcotic component. That is one of more powerful cough control drugs.

No I do not smoke anymore , but did for 25 years. I have had a lung function test. but they are head to read from what I understand it's not to bad .so that's why I wounder is why do I have such a bad cough all the time . and have shortness of breath like something is sitting on my chest .and feel so bad all the time . I take my med just like I should ,is there any thing that you know of that can help a cough like mine .I some times wonder if I just need to change doctors.

Y'know, maybe a visit to an ER is in order. If you feel that bad then it truly needs to get figured out. There really is nothing that you will be able to learn from here. You need a good heart and lung examination.

I just joined this forum but I read your post. Feeling down in the dumps is part of this disease. You need to pull yourself out of it and focus on the reason you want to stay alive and well. In terms of the doctors, while you have the energy, tell them you need to be evaluated for COPD. When you explain that you are scared and don't know what to do, that should drive some action. I've found that being appreciative (i"m not suggesting that you haven't been) and asking for help is the only way to fly. Ask them to refer you to a Dr. who specializes in Pulmonary medicine.
