COPD

My father 68, has always drank, smoked and has had poor nutrition. I have always tried to be there for him when he allowed it. The last few months he has kept to himself not wanting any visits since his new girlfriend who drinks and smokes too. Last week at the peer pressure of his neighbor and his constant coughing up mouthsful of sputum with blood he went to his Doctor. Of course this resulted in a trip to the hospital.

hello my name is jane and my dad also has copd.he never returned home one night and i just knew something bad had happened because my dad has never stayed out all night.anyway the nent day we rang around and to our horror was told that our dad was in the intensive care unit.we went up to see him and it was terrible ,he was on a ventilator/respirator.an there was all brown stuff what was being respirated from his lungs.eventually my dad came off the ventilating machines and was now breathing for himself.so please dont lose hope,i know copd does not get better but i really thought i had lost my dad,but hes ok now. still with copd but is more carefull when he drinks alcohol.he no longer smokes but sadly does still drink but not as much as he did do.
