chronic coughHi, I have had a chronic cough for almost 2 years. My doctor tried things for allergies, acid reflux, antibiodicts which none have helped. I was also referred to and ear, nose and throat specialist, which he could not find anything either. He referred me to the pulmanary specialist who also said he could not find anything. I returned to my doctor who said they basically have done everything they could for me. I cannot live with that. This cough has taken over my life. I cough all day at work which is so annoying to myself and everyone around me. I cannot sleep at night and have to go to the cough so my husband can sleep. I was given some cough medicine that does not work and they will not give me anything stronger. Does anyone have any suggestions or similar problems. Please advise me where I should go from here. Thanks, Teri
Re: chronic coughSounds troubling I would go to a regional medical center that has an academic pulmonology department and get their opinion
Re: chronic coughThats about to the point I am at. I am considering asking my doctor to do a bronchoscopy. What do you think about that?
Re: chronic coughSounds completely reasonable
Re: chronic coughHave you heard of theobromine for cough?
Re: chronic coughHaven't used it but its found in chocolate and studies have shown that it can be used as a cough medicine and it relaxes the airway tubes in the lung most likely by effecting the vagus nerve, good luck
Re: chronic coughdo you know how to get it and how much you would take?
Re: chronic coughSorry I do not know but I imagine if you went to a natural food or vitamin store they maybe able to help you. If you haven't you should read about chronic cough on this website http://www.pulmonologychannel.com/chroniccough/index.shtml
Re: chronic coughTeri:
Did anyone come up with a viable solution for you? If so, please share, as I too, have been plagued by a chronic cough for nearly 3 years. I have tried Delsym, home remedies and live on sugarfree cough drops. I have been to the family doctor, pulmonologist, ENT people, allergists and endocrinologists. I have had all kinds of tests, CT Sans, MRI's, endoscopies - you name it, I did it. Have have taken what they call pearls, Nexium, Zyrtec, Singular, and used inhalers. ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. I understand how it can alienate people from you both at work and at home. Even going to the grocery store is a problem since everything thinks you are contagious. It truly affects you life, relationships and causes other problems. I wonder if weight is a factor. I would love to be able to drop 50 lbs. and wake up cough-free.
