Chronic CoughWhen I get a cold, I begin to cough. Cough is a dry cough that persists throughout day, but does not occur when lying down. Once cough begins, it persists for 2 to 3 months and then goes away on own. I typically cough for 3 to 6 months out of each year.

Re: Chronic CoughDennis, Do not rule out GERD. I had a chronic dry cough for 30 years and have undergone every test possible. GERD and Sinus were ruled out because the only relief I got was by lying down which is inconsistent with both conditions. I gave up but just recently started searching again, hoping that new advances have been made in recent years. To make a long story short, even though I never have heartburn, I was prescribed Nexium. After about a week of this purple pill, the cough lessened. I take 1 pill in the morning and am almost cough free all day. Hope you can get some relief.
