Chest Pain - Pulmonology or Gastroenterologist?

Post a new topicby acomisp on Mon Mar 30, 2009 2:22 pm

Hello,

I am need of some advice. I have been getting chest pain on my left side just below the peck "boob" what ever you call if for a guy, lol
I have been getting this pain off and on since 2001.
I have talked to my doctor and I have had a stress test back in 2001.
They doctor said it is not my heart.
Currently I am 38 and a non-smoker and I think I am pretty good heath beside the pain in the chest.

This pain does concern me because how long it has been going off and on for the past 8 years.

I not sure if I should see a different doctor like a pulmonologist or gastroenterologist?

To describe the pain:
It is a steady dull/pressure pain but some times a burn sensation like when you stretch a mussel when I exhale.
The pain goes from the center of my chest just below the peck "boob" to the left side just blow the arm pit.

the reason I think of seeing a gastroenterologist is because if I can get myself to burp that's if I can at that time it release some of the pressure sensation for a little bit but the dull pain still stays.

The doctor in the past has gave me a cortazone shot in that area thinking it might be a pulled mussel but it did not help.

Sometime if I sleep on that side I will wake up with that pain.

I very little get heart burn maybe once out of six months or more.
If I get indigestion it is different then the chest pain and I only get that once in awhile just like heart burn.

No one seems to know what is wrong so far and what I know so far it is not my heart from the test the doctors have preformed on me.

Maybe it is something with my lung.
When I first got this pain I worked in an old court house that had mold.

Any help would be great!

Thank You
Sidney
