I get frequent chest pains that i went to my doctors about and they still dont know what is wrong with me. I am 20 years old and i should be out having fun with my friends and i cant because half the time i am in too much pain to want to go anywhere. My doctor didnt know, so i got a second opinion today and she also said that she didnt know. They arent running any tests though, which is aggrivating me a bit. I have asked them if this is something i should be taking x-rays or an MRI for, but ...Read the full article

Keep reading and searching. You're way too young for this and I believe you when you say you're not stressed. I would start by telling the dr. that you're not here shopping for pills (i.e. xanax - lots of folks <young and old> go to the dr. screaming chest pain to get pills). So say that right off the bat. I am 36 and have been dealing with left pectoral pain too. Mine (I'm pretty sure) was caused by one of many seizures that I have dealt with through the last 11 yrs of my life (cause is unknown which they say is good). It has taking a while and several drs. to finally make any progress. We could be in totally different boats with the type of pains we're experiencing. Mine has been for 5 yrs now. It freaked me out making me think that I was having a heart attack which I have been tested more than once for with an eeg and stress test (tread mill) which have always came back normal. I then went to a lung specialist (I don't smoke) and had x-rays which revealed healthy lungs and he also stated that my heart looked small (which is good) and not enlarged. That was a relief of sorts but like you I am stressing out due to no answers and kinda being blown off. Have you had any prior injuries (major or minor) to your back or ribs or anything like that? Any falls? For me, I believe that I tore my pectoral during one of my seizures The drs say that I would be screaming bloody murder if that was true - again - I believe I'm being blown off by the orthopedic. <This response of mine might become a little scrambled as I'm trying my best to get to the point>. I will be sitting on the couch and out of no where the chest pain kicks in. It radiates under my arm and wraps around into my shoulder blade and back - All Connected. I have finally been able to get into pain management where at first I was treated with an epidural around my T8 vertebra (my T8 has just the slightest off set from a fall during a seizure that really doesn't hurt at that spot anymore but did for about 6 months 12/02 through 6/03). That did nothing for my wrap around pain. I then had trigger point injections into my lower shoulder blade in about 3 or 4 spots and it helped to a significant degree which has now been about 7 weeks and is wearing off. My dr. (which I'm glad I found) believes that I don't have a pinched nerve (as the orthopedics all said) but muscle damage. She also believes that after a few more treatments I should be cured. I'm not a believer on that part. I think that it will have to be an on going thing but hopefully I'm wrong.
I hope that this is not a waste of your time. And if you made it this far, I would suggest trying to find and possibly pin point certain epicenters of your pain. Search your body for possible connected pain routes. Deep muscle massage could in fact bring some relief. I'm not a dr. so please run these suggestions by yours and see what they say. I even gave the dr. a gift card to a restaurant for his help. The next time I went in, he was a little more focused on me and my problem and helped set me up with my current dr. These days it seems as if we're all just numbers sometimes to them though I know and believe that there are a lot of really great drs. out there. Sorry this turned into a book - - - best of luck. Please reply, maybe you can give me some direction too.

Me again...three things I forgot. 1.) I had an upper gi performed as well and that was ruled out. 2.) When the pain is at the worst it can be, it's all but impossible to take a deep breath without feeling like there's a knife entering my side. 3.) The sensation will sometimes radiate down my left arm causing pain and or a tingling numbness.
Best Of Luck!!!

Hi.. I am 18 years old.. and it's incredible that our symptoms match completely and i too have had no answers from doctors. so if you find out whats wrong.. PLEASE let me know.

I experience a pain under my left breast and pain in my left arm, its hard to breath and of course thats scary! I have made multiple trips to the ER for fear of a heartattack.. even though it seems like im too young.

Better safe than sorry i guess.. but anyway. I have had and EKG numerous times, blood work, i even wore a heart monitor and they found NOTHING. I am really getting frustrated and scared.. because it has been happening more frequently. I get these episodes for no reason at all.

I even get them while sleeping and just sitting at rest. Please reply back..
