Still coughing up blood, help!

Post a new topicby vferris on Sat Nov 22, 2008 12:49 am

I have had asthma for five years. Currently I am taking pulmicort every 12 hours via nebulizer and singular.

The flair ups...tightness, short of breath, coughing, wheezing, tasting blood sometimes cough it up. I am afraid to cough hard because it makes the bleeding worse. I feel like something breaks open or ruptures that releases the blood and then it just has to stop on it's on. No one has ever given me answer on why or how this happens. Anyone else have this ?

As you probably understand part of asthma is airway inflammation. The persistent heavy coughing can cause airways linings to tear and bleed. Its sounds as though you're experiencing an acute flare up and would benefit from some medical management. Please visit your MD ASAP, or a clinic or ER. You live in Anaheim and there are may very knowledgeable MDs (allergists, pulmonary specialists) in your immediate area.

You could be bleeding because you've damaged yourself coughing, or it could be something other than asthma. Get yourself to a Dr. even if it's the ER and tell them you are coughing up blood
