Need so understandingWhen I went to my allergist for a follow-up appointment. I was coughing not having much fun. My pft score there was 340 it should be 460 after a breathing treatment it went up to 350 and I was still coughing. He said it was to do with allergies not from asthma. How can I know when it is my asthma causing the coughing, chest tightness or when it is allergies? Did using my rescue inhaler before going to the appointment make a different in how the breathing treatment worked? The rescue inhaler didn't help much other than allow me to walk to my car without of getting totally out of the breath. Also since seeing him I haven made it close to my personal best scores staying near or at high yellow levels so around 350 how can I get my scores up? I go see my dr at the end of the month. Thanks for your help.
Re: Need so understandingIf you have not seen a pulmonologist by now you should. I cannot tell you how to tell the difference between your allergies and asthma since I don't have all the information. Proper medication is important for asthma as is education about what triggers it and how to handle it. A good pulmonologist should be able to help you with this.
