Dr. ignoring my 9 year old daughter's asthma

Post a new topicby mammamo on Tue Nov 10, 2009 3:02 pm

My daughter has struggled w/ asthma for years. She can't just get a cold, it turns into a horrible cough that requires breathing treatments, inhalers, and steroids. She has missed so much school because of it. I keep taking her to the Dr who keeps taking my money and telling me to do the same things I'm already doing. I was just wondering if there is a pill that she can take on a regular basis to keep her airways open or help little things from turning into a full blown asthma event? When she is not sick, she loves to play sports and dance and play, but it always ends with her coughing. She is also overweight, but it is hard for her to exercise when she keeps getting out of breath and coughing. She wears out long before the other kids. Her Dr. keeps telling me that she has to have more episodes more often before he would put her on a daily regiment? Any ideas???
